Bucky sits up in his bed, his chest heaving with ragged breaths that barely draw enough oxygen not to pass out. His heart is racing, and his hands feel wet. He stares at them in the darkness, but only the metal of his arm glimmers faintly in the light creeping through the uncovered window.
He scrambles for the bedside lamp somewhere on the floor next to the mattress he was sleeping on. Well, more tossing and turning until he passed out of exhaustion and his brain cooked up just another nightmare—or replayed a real memory from the depths of his subconscious mind. Who knows?Series
