“...Papa ?” He croaked out, watching as his father kneeled next to him, bringing a hand to his cheek. Why was it cold ? His dad’s hand was never cold ; it was warm, reassuring, kind, and Yugo felt like crying when the hand that was supposed to comfort him was freezing.
“Oh, Yugo… You’re delirious.” His “father” stated, a warm voice that he did not recognize as his dad’s. Where was he ? Yugo wanted his dad, he needed his gentleness, his protection. His father always seemed like the strongest in the world, with his big and strong arms, picking him up as long as he could remember. He wondered, now that he was too big, his limbs long and his voice too deep, if Alibert would pick him up again and spin him around, as though he were five again.

“What are you so sad for ?” She asked, the question sounding meaner now that she said it. She gripped the strap of her backpack a little harder, pursing her lips as she barely met his eyes. Not once in her life was she hesitant to do that. She was always fighting head-on, staring into people’s soul.
“Who said I was sad ? I’m just tired.” He retorted. She threw her bag next to him, to which he didn’t react, and sat next to him.
“It’s a nice place.” She said, picking at her nails.
“It’s quiet.” He said, ending their conversation. Max hummed, bringing her knees against her chest. Minutes passed by, clock ticking above their heads as they watched the leaves forming waves, following the rhythm of the wind. Max didn’t dislike it, she didn’t. But Mike’s silence, as good as it was, was also worrying.
“What are you thinking about ?” She asked, not sparing him a look, and she knew he wasn’t looking at her either. She felt him move, adjusting himself against the wall, and let out a sigh.
“It sucks.”

“You’re beautiful.” He blurted out, the words slipping out before he could even process it. They both froze, Will looking like he might throw up, and Mike looking like he just ran a marathon. What was he thinking, saying stuff like this without even realizing ? Will was definitely going crazy, and that was solely Mike’s fault. He was the forbidden apple Will would fall victim to every time. He forced, with a single stare, Will to blurt out all his secrets, which were safely tucked away in some hidden part of his heart. He wasn’t supposed to know how enamored Will was. He wasn’t supposed to know Will’s love for him ran deeper than a simple “I love you”. At least not now. Completely mortified, Will tried to at least save face.
“I —I’m sorry — ”
“You really think so ?”
Or, Will stares at Mike sleeping as he thinks of how much he loves him. He loves him oh so very much.

You’re the strongest person I know, Mike. You’re brave, and you’re kind, and you’re so much more.” Okay. This was definitely not part of his thoughts. Was he so delirious he imagined Will comforting him ?
In which Mike throws up flowers and locks himself in the bathroom, thinking of everything that led up to this.

When being introduced to Eren Jaeger, however, he can't help himself slowly falling for the rebellious metalhead, who seems to be a bit of an enigma but might be able to teach Armin how to trust and enjoy life again.
Still - ex-partners don't just disappear and neither do the scars they caused. And no matter how perfect the idea of a relationship seems, some things you have to fight for on your own, like self-worth.
Also, no one is perfect anyway and everyone has a past - especially Eren.
But maybe it's worth it this time.
