Summary
Will Byers has been lying about the painting for years. Mike Wheeler only found out the truth recently — and he's been carrying it in silence ever since.
One night in the basement, surrounded by dice and dust and years of things left unsaid, the truth finally catches up with them — and it doesn't go the way either of them expected.
What starts as a heated argument turns into something much more intimate. The van. The painting. The words Will never meant to say out loud. Mike doesn't let him run this time. He pins him against the wall, underneath the painting Will made for him, and makes him repeat everything he said in that van — not like it was from her, but like it was from him.
Because it always was.
Or
After a heated argument, Mike Wheeler stops running and fucks Will Byers in front of the painting.

Summary
“You… um, smoke?” Will asks before he can stop himself, swallowing as he watches a boy lean against the dusty, cracking brick wall.
Will doesn’t know much about the boy, except that his name is Mike and his father is the pastor.
“What?” He replies, pulling the cigarette from his lips and lightly blowing the smoke from his mouth. “Just because my dad is the pastor, you think I can’t enjoy a cigarette?
OR:
Will Byers is no stranger to religious guilt. He carries it everywhere he goes, and it’s starting to weigh him down.
When he meets Mike Wheeler, the pastor’s son, he realizes there is more to life than just fearing God, and it’s much scarier.

Summary
“I’m still- I’m still connected.” He continues, whispering in terror. “I can still feel him, Mike. He’s still there. I can’t get him out- I can’t-”
Mike presses his forehead to Will’s temple once again, eyes squeezed shut.
“I’ve got you.” Mike whispers. “You’re not alone. You’re not alone in this. I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere. He doesn’t get to have you, not ever.”
Will buries his face weakly into Mike’s shoulder and sobs, body curling in on itself. And Mike holds him tighter.
Will’s physical body is held captive by Vecna in the Upside Down Hawkins Church, and Mike goes to save him before anyone else could.
