Summary
“You feel… Um. We’re too far apart, I think,” Henry muttered, and if Hans had felt any less out of his depth, he would’ve commented sarcastically on the other man’s eloquence. Before he could even begin to think of what to say instead, his squire pushed himself up and strode to his side of the room, footsteps laden with fatigue. Unconsciously, Hans pressed his back against the wall to make space.

Summary
"Are you cold?" Henry asked.
Without armor, in hose and gambeson, he was still an imposing figure: tall and broad, hands stained with dirt and blood, jaw stubbornly stiff. His bare feet were a shock of white in the dirt. He held his helm with both hands, embracing the metal into his belly. His hair was damp with sweat. There was another string of bruises on his throat, shaped like two wide thumbs.
Hans looked away. The tunic around Henry's knee had darkened. Blood was trickling into the dirt.
Hans kills a man, prepares for a wedding, and tries to do at least one thing right.
(Or: five times Hans and Henry didn't share a bed, and one time they did.)

Summary
Hans is rapidly starting to hate Ruthard Palace. He’s sick of staring at nothing but the Ruthard’s dour decorative choices, the same miserable colours and motifs in Kuttenberg that he’d had plenty of time to grow weary of in Maleshov. He’s sick of not being able to say this with the would-be scion of the Ruthards somehow always within earshot, lest he cause offence. He's sick of Brabant, who he’s now spent far too much time with and has heard every one of his stories at least twice. He’s sick of Žižka and Hynek cutting him out of conversations, out of decisions, out of his rightful place at the table.
He’s been here for barely three days, but if he has to remain within these four walls for even ten minutes more, he’s going to lose his mind.
Henry co-ordinates a jailbreak to give Hans a small reprieve from his effective house arrest, and Hans gets a glimpse into what Henry was doing in Kuttenberg while he was being held in Maleshov.

"Bad luck, friend," Josef tuts. "Looks like the job's yours, Martin."
"Looks like," Martin echoes, nonplussed. "Where is the lordling, then? I'll not keep him."
"Down in the lower castle, most like. That's where he always goes home to roost. And good luck, man. He may be little, but he has a mouth on him."
A visit to Rattay results in an unexpected job for the Skalitz smith Martin.
