Ilya shrugged. "Who cares what ancient Scott Hunter says to make Shane Hollander mad?” Ilya. Ilya cared very much. Had sent a series of curious texts to Jane throughout the night that had all gone unanswered. Whatever. “Is no big deal. Hollander probably stole Hunter’s old man handkerchief to use as bib.”
“Just don’t ask my wife. She has theories upon theories.”
Ilya swung toward Jason Caine, the hulking defenseman Boston had acquired from Pittsburgh in a recent trade. Ilya was still figuring the quiet, stoic man out. “Theories?”
“Yeah. I tell her she reads too much fanfic.” With a fond grin, he slung his bag over his shoulder. “Anyway, see you guys in the morning.”
"Wait," Marleau cut in, turning to Jason. “Now you got me curious as hell. What’s your wife’s theory?”
"Yes Caine. What is this theory?"

Shane stares at the half-empty bottle of vodka on the coffee table. “You suck.”
“I suck? I scored hat-trick! In your stupid body! I have not eaten in six hours, Hollander. I have not pissed. I have not laid down. I want to go home.”
“Rozanov–”
“Your mother has called twenty times. Your manager has called thirty times. Your father text me picture of crossword puzzle and ask for help. Clue is about American President from the 1980s. I cannot help!”

Summary
Pretty much the first thing Scott figured out about hockey is how much men who don’t play it love the high of it. Execs love to push the guys to skate harder, faster, get the adrenaline so high they can feel it from the box. Or, well, that was the first thing he figured out about hockey after he ended up in a billet in Albany after his parents died. His parents had taught him a hell of a lot before the car crash, but sometimes the thing he played as a kid feels like a different sport altogether.
