"He liked girls, so that made things easy for his brain. And, if every once and a while, he found a guy attractive, no big deal because he liked girls. He liked all the things that came with being with a girl; the kissing, the romancing, the sex. So what if sometimes he would watch the beads of sweat rolling down one of his teammate’s necks a little too closely during practice? Or how he kinda wanted to touch Tommy H.’s freckled skin to see if there was a texture to the sun-kissed spots? Or the adrenaline filled excitement he would feel of body-against-body contact during basketball games and matches? Or how fascinating he would find the cords of Billy Hargrove’s muscles bunched under tanned skin exposed to the Hawkin’s summer sun at the public pool? What did any of that matter, when he liked girls? Especially when he could so easily explain it all away as envy of talent, build, or attractiveness?"
