    Summary

Soontir has studied the Rogues as opponents but he does not yet know what to make of them as colleagues. They lack… not discipline precisely. In battle they fight with the mix of rigid discipline and unpredictable chaos to be expected of the elite unit the Rebels— the New Republic —bills them as. Otherwise Antilles’ pilots display a casual disregard for structure and hierarchy that is unsettlingly reminiscent of the 181st when Soontir had first arrived.

Antilles does not resemble his sister, Klivian and Celchu have grown into seasoned soldiers rather than the green cadets he had trained, and Janson is more complicated than his Imperial intelligence file would suggest.

In short, upon his defection to the New Republic, Soontir Fel finds that Rogue Squadron is not entirely what he expected.

Set at the start of the Family Ties run of the X-wing: Rogue Squadron comics (issues 26-27), right after the end of In the Empire’s Service and The Making of Baron Fel (issues 21-24 and 25).

    Summary

"Talmanes was unshakeable, a veritable rock that his men had more than once figuratively clung to during their own storms, where they felt their own foundations being torn up by the roots. Simply being this pillar of calm and certainty was enough, and in many cases was exactly what was needed. He could not be anything else, could not be seen trying to push down the memories that haunted him, could not be seen drinking the nightmares away every night."

Talmanes' POV during the events of Lord of Chaos, Chapter 22.

    Summary

Sometimes, Aragorn thinks he can see Boromir out of the corner of his eye. It has been a year and a half. He ought to have stopped this after the first six months. He ought never to have seen him in the first place. Because what is there to see?

Aragorn and Boromir - as memories and ghosts, sometimes these are one and the same, sometimes they're not. Or, as Anne Carson has it in Nox: "I fall, you fall, I have fallen, fell, a neutral verb, whence casual and casually."

    Summary

To the southwest of Revachol, far into the wild pale yonder is a radio repeater station. On this station is a corpse -- a woman killed in cold blood. There is no suspect. There are no clues. It is a thoroughly impossible death, a murder in utter isolation.

Two officers arrive on the scene. Voices bleed from the tower above. Something is horribly wrong.

    Summary

In a forgotten church, on a desolate coast, in an orphaned city, enters a woman. She walks with purpose, slowly and methodically, over the creaking wooden floors. Eyes casting around, looking for… something, even she is not sure what. Patterns. Data. And their inverse; Pattern breaks. Outliers. Things which do not belong.
