He wants to say all of those things but Derek looks him in the eyes and Stiles sees nothing in Derek’s gaze and his heart doesn’t break but it does implode, caves in on itself like a black hole, a deep infinite well of dark nothingness.

When Stiles realizes that he and Derek are soulmates who've lived countless lives together across all the planes of existence he's blown away. Until, that is, he realizes that Derek doesn't recognize him the way Stiles recognizes Derek and doesn't seem even remotely interested in trying to. Then he just does his best to hold on for as long as he can.
