nessa rolled into the doorway, looked at elphaba’s outfit, and raised an eyebrow. “are you going out with your tradwife again?”

“she’s not a—” elphaba stammered. glinda kind of was a tradwife. “she’s not my—” she cleared her throat. “we’re not going out. it’s—” she felt herself blushing and decided to quit while she was ahead.

when nessa shows elphaba a tiktok from the conservative and painfully heterosexual influencer @glindathegoodwife, elphaba can only roll her eyes. but when elphaba runs into glinda in a bookstore just a few days later, the last thing she expects is to leave with a recipe and a new friend.

    Summary

There was more writing crowding that same page, curling around the drawing as though desperate to squeeze every last inch of space. Murth hesitated. Did she even want to keep reading?

It was all so—so incredibly juvenile.

Lady Glinda, who for a long time had been the most powerful woman in Oz, who conducted herself with the unshakable poise of someone befitting her station, who had gathered supporters all over the world with wit and charm and a mind sharper than steel—all of that reduced to a teenage girl involved in petty university dramas.

And involved with the Wicked Witch of the West!

How come that secret had never been brought to light, even years after Lady Glinda's death?

Or, Glinda's handmaiden finds her journal, along with several scandals that are hidden inside the pages.

    Summary

"What exactly did you do in the courtyard?"
"I'm not sure what you mean," Galinda said politely.
Elphaba stared at her in disbelief. "You did magic."
    "I didn't. It's like I told Madame Morrible. You must have made a mistake. I don't...I can't do magic."
And Elphaba realized something. On this point, at least, Galinda Upland was a terrible liar.

Or, Elphaba is positive that her new roommate has magic too. She just doesn't understand why Galinda won't admit it. It turns out they have more in common than either of them realize.

    Summary

She didn’t even really ask a question when she told Elphaba what she’d done, when she told her about the house, the biggest purchase of her life: a safe place; a place where, if she’s horrendibly honest, she imagines that maybe they could grow old. Galinda never saw the appeal of it before, of the ache in her bones or the aging lines on her face.

But looking in the mirror lately, they’re there— and she doesn’t hate it. She doesn’t hate knowing she’s changed. That they both have.

(Or, a post-canon fix-it. Elphaba comes back to her. Galinda buys them a house. The eroticism of a gentle life.)

    Summary

Just like Sarima had said, Lady Elphaba’s skin was a deep green. Galinda thought that it might have been the most beautiful shade of green she had ever seen, and immediately shook the thought from her head. The rest of Elphaba’s face was beautiful too: her arched eyebrows, her vivid green eyes, her hard mouth-but her pretty lips were twisted into an expression of utter disdain. Clearly Lady Elphaba Thropp, with her ten thousand pounds a year and her manor house in Munchkinland, thought she was above country dances.

She didn’t look quite so beautiful with that look of condescension in her eyes. Not when she thought she was better than all of them just because she owned half of Munchkinland and had a townhouse in the Emerald City for the Season. It was a shame, really. If she hadn't been so disagreeable, she could have been one of those Eligible Heirs that Momsie was always going on about.

But even Galinda had to admit that was too much like a fairytale.
