Goodness knows he's been trying his best, and when his words failed to convince her of his good intentions, he had little choice but to start utilising other methods. She is clever—indeed, that is one of his favourite things about her—so he can no longer insist on his logic being as sound as he reckoned it was.
So instead he's been wearing her out, seducing her slowly within the confines of her strict boundaries.
