His mother had rushed over and knelt beside him, gently lifting his face with her fingers as she assessed the damage. It wasn’t broken, she’d said, softly in a relieved tone, but Rin could tell she was mad—disappointed in what he'd done.
She brought him to the sink and ran a towel on his face, cleaning the damage he’d brought to himself.
She’d then taken him into her lap, her hands engulfing his back, letting him rest his head on her chest.
Her voice was sweet when she spoke. “Oh, where did I go wrong with you?”

"What? Why not? I thought you said there wasn't any bad blood between you two?"
"There's isn't." Rin insists hoping Isagi drops it, but he keeps pressing.
"So why can't you just—"
"Because he just doesn't care about me anymore, Isagi." Rin snaps turning away and closing his eyes again as the words keep tumbling out of his mouth. "He doesn't love me, he doesn't want me around, and he certainly would rather get hit by a bus than admit to being related to me."
"What? Come on... " Isagi drawls out with a chuckle like he can't believe it. Like it's a joke. "Of course he does, I know I don't have any siblings, but from what I've gathered all siblings deep down really do care about each other, so what makes you the exception?"
Isagi says it so casually, like Rin hadn't spent the last year killing himself trying to find out.
