Summary
Brood parasitism is a subclass of parasitism and phenomenon and behavioural pattern of animals that rely on others to raise their young.
In which, Tommy has always been differed from his nestmates. Traits that isolated him from his flock the older he got. It is only a matter of time before they take notice of these impossible inconsistencies. It's as if he's not even from the same brood.
Philza, on the other hand, has never had to retrieve a hatchling of his earlier than expected. But things change, and parasitic as his tactics may be, he refuses to sit by and watch his young be abused.

Summary
Tommy has never truly had a home, it was really just a roof over head. Living practically as a complete outcast within his own village for as long as he could remember.
So when he's finally forced to run, there's no where for him to really go. Though, he somehow finds himself in the arms of a family. Facing others like him for the first time in his life.
It's a bit confusing.

“Wilbur, I can’t accept this, I can't take your guitar,” Tommy feels a little desperate, trying to shove the instrument back at his foster brother. Wilbur waves him off with a dismissive hand.
“It’s not really mine, just an old one we’ve had for years. If you don’t keep it it’ll just keep collecting dust in my room. I figured you might appreciate something to keep you busy." Wilbur crosses his arms and leans back leisurely.
“I don’t need to learn guitar.” Tommy insists, scowl deepening when Wilbur shrugs, "I have plenty of things to keep me busy, I don't need a stupid hobby."
"No shame in hobbies. And getting drunk doesn't count as one, by the way."
-----Years of floating through the foster system has done nothing for Tommy except strengthen his tolerance for liquor. He's about ready to white knuckle it until he ages out of the system, but after six months at the Watson's he's starting to think that maybe the way he's used to doing things isn't normal.

Techno's eyes travel from Tommy's head to his toes, recognition didn't flit across his face like Tommy had anticipated. Nine years did change a person a great deal. Techno, who had only been fourteen the last time Tommy had seen him, was now a grown man, well muscled, all traces of boyishness gone from his body. Though he was still recognizably Techno. Tommy on the other hand had been six. A runt with bright eyes and a firy personality. Tommy wondered if the years had rendered him too changed for his brother to know him.
Then it happened. Tommy saw the instant Techno put the pieces together. He stood up in a rush, his book falling to the floor in a heap, while his beer sloshed around in its bottle.
"Tommy?"

Tommy winds up at Techno's doorstep after nine years of separation. He'd found him online via article. Apparently Tommy's brother was a semi famous bullrider. Tommy didn't care about that though, he just needed somewhere to stay. A cabin out in the middle of Texas would just have to do.
