Andrew met Neil in a park when they were five, hiding in a tunnel in the playground set and immediately the two became inseparable; causing chaos for the adults around them, growing closer and closer as the years trickle by even through trauma and abuse from caregivers and unstable mothers all until one day Neil's unstable mother snatches Neil away for eight years just as everything in Andrew's life shifts- from having a new adoptive mom, to finding his brother and doing everything he can to protect him, to gaining a family that he wants to share with Neil. "Now why would I do that?" Andrew asked his mouth moving before his brain could catch up. This wasn't how he imagined their first conversation going but he foolishly hoped that Nathania would make it interesting nonetheless.
"You tell me." She hissed. Andrew could almost picture the thick strands of curls morphing into snakes to turn him into an ice sculpture. "Every time I see you, I find that you're staring at me."
Well, Andrew supposed that was true. He did tend to stare at her, how could he not when at any second she could light the whole place on fire or freeze hell over with just a flick of her hair or a glare.
"It’s not my fault that you are the most interesting thing in this depressing catalog excuse for a school, is it?" Andrew said. Surprisingly the words came easy to Andrew. Apparently being faced with a wildfire made him much more willing to speak. How more interesting could Nathania get?

Just as he's reaching his stress limit over the case, his boss, Wymack, partners him up with the aloof anthropologist Dr. Neil Josten from the Jeffersonian to help tie Nathan to the murders and finally take down the Butcher. But Andew is far more interested in Neil Josten than catching the serial killer he'd been chasing for a year. Neil was obviously hiding something and Andrew wanted to find out what it was, convinced that if he did then this infatuation with Neil would go away and he can continue living as he had been before Neil. But would that actually happen or will Andrew fall even deeper into 'infatuation' with Neil Josten as they continued to work together?
