    Tommy didn't mean to leave his house in a mess whilst his dad was at work. But setting off a firework inside didn't justify Phil getting him a babysitter at fourteen years old.

    But Wilbur was weird. Weird because he wore sunglasses in the middle of September. And because he was a vampire.

    To be more accurate, he was a fledgling. Wilbur insisted on not becoming one of them. He feared losing his own humanity, breaking away from everything that once made him human.

    Though, Wilbur didn't know that the kid he babysat was all he needed to keep that humanity.

    ‘Wilbur scoffs dramatically “We are four years older than you, if anything Phil’s the old one,”

    “Hey, leave me out of this!” Phil laughs with a mouthful of food.

    Tommy rolls his eyes at his family before turning his attention back to his plate, tuning out the conversation, having heard this debate many times before.

    Despite how annoying they are, it’s nice to feel like his family is still present, as if they are always around. This sense of normalcy never lasted though. Techno has always preferred the company of the local library where he would lose himself in a book, Phil is either working in his home office, at a meeting or sleeping to make up for overworking himself, while Wilbur is so focused on making music that he forgets it used to be the glue that held the family together.’

    Or Tommy misses how life used to be, before his mother passed away, before everything changed, and he doesn't know how to make everything right again, so instead, he rebels and pushes his loved ones away.
