Summary
April of 1990 finds Mike Wheeler alone, isolated and miserable. Having pulled away from the party, from Will, he spends the days leading up to his birthday alone. When Nancy calls asking for a favour on Jonathan's behalf, Mike knows immediately that it's going to be a bad idea. He finds himself right back where he was in the summer of 89', confused, afraid, and desperately in love with Will Byers.

Summary
"You are hiding something," Jane says in lieu of greeting, and watches as Will almost jumps out of his skin, his eyes wide with terror and surprise.
“And you still don’t know how to knock,” he mutters, just to be annoying and not give Jane the satisfaction of being able to successfully scare him shitless.
"You are avoiding answering,” Jane fires back, silently inviting herself into his room and lying down next to him on the floor.
“You didn’t ask a question.”
Jane rolls her eyes. Will is being difficult on purpose, sue him. It never stopped his sister before. “I'm right, so don't lie. What are you hiding?"
Or: Will is phenomenally good at keeping secrets. He is, however, also phenomenally bad at asking for advice. The good thing is, people around him are always ready to come to help, even if it involves a terrifying amount of teasing, reading pamphlets with scary names from the furthest corners of the library, and the mortifying ordeal of baring your soul.

Summary
At first, Mike was unsure how to approach him when he got like this. But they’ve been living together for months now, never further than five feet apart in their dorm beds, so Mike’s learned what works and what doesn’t.
It works when he wakes Will like this, with gentle hands and words, telling him he’s safe. It works when he climbs into Will’s warm bed, turning him on his side and curling up against his back, an arm over his waist and his cheek pressed against his shoulder. They lie together like that until Will’s hiccupping gasps soften into steady breaths, until Mike feels him go limp in his arms and he knows he’s fallen back asleep. It always works.
or: Will has nightmares and Mike is the only one who can console him. Not even Will's boyfriend can. Mike takes great pride in this fact.
