If someone told fifteen-year-old Chuuya that he was playing Osamu Dazai’s love interest in a film, he would’ve lied about the amount of butterflies that he got in his stomach upon hearing that.
Now, though, telling twenty-two year old Chuuya that same thing? He has no reason to lie about the nausea that rolls through his gut.
And the idea of fake dating him makes it ten times worse.

The self-doubt would eat him alive if he let it.
Instead, he gnaws on perfectly pink lips. Taps their finger in intervals of nine. Holds their breath, releases, and breathes again.
“Love?”
It’s concerned and kind and far too nice and sweet and caring because here he is cared for, here he is—“How do you feel about a trip to Japan?”
