In no way does Ghost own or have contact with dogs outside of the K-9 unit. But surely it wouldn't hurt to just have a look? To just take a step closer and run his fingers over a particularly nice looking one.
Fake black leather with a bone shaped tag. He could get that engraved. It’s not too hefty and he’s sure it could fit around a particularly large… potentially man-sized dog.
______Simon 'Ghost' Riley is a very reserved man.
He doesn't overshare or exert unnecessary energy often. He doesn't make obvious innuendos or display affection very publicly.
Which is why it becomes so difficult when he wants to try something new.

Summary
They should have expected this to happen. With Red John’s obsession over Jane, and their little game, they should have known better.
They had let their guard down, had assumed that their game would keep Jane safe. Had assumed it meant Red John wouldn’t hurt him.
The red smiley face drawn on the wall above Jane’s empty leather couch taunted them of their mistakes.
Red John had taken Jane, had taken their friend while they were all out chasing down leads. While Jane had been ordered to stay behind, pouring over case files.
And now he was gone, in the clutches of a mad man.
