this is, hands down, the best and most historically accurate fanfiction i have ever seen. I am rewatching downton s2 because of this and am very much enjoying seeing Thomas (or should I say Sergeant Wardmaster Barrow) in a whole new light.

Hunter tried to keep his eyes locked on the ground, as their mirror made his stomach swoop, and Willow’s gaze did the same for different reasons. He squared his shoulders and shook his head.
“No, I- I would lik- I mean, if you want to help.”
She nodded. “I do.”
