The Fake-Date Coupons were made for one reason and one reason only: to keep Lydia and Alec in the closet for as long as they needed. The coupons go forgotten for close to five years before Alec decides to use his on his grandmother’s 98th birthday party. It would have been fine if Lydia didn’t start crushing on Alec’s cousin.
