She’s been sat at home all day, alternating between flicking through the regular trashy daytime television, and baking an absurd amount of cakes. She’s already boxed an entire ginger cake for her mother. But, for now, it’s a Friday afternoon and she’s finally hit her breaking point of boredom.
Which led her here. Standing outside of Eddie’s house.
Only, Eddie isn’t the one who’s opened the door. It’s not Eddie standing there, mild surprise on his face as a towel hangs dangerously loose over his hips, water dripping down onto his bare chest.
Or, the one in which Ana's boyfriend is almost definitely in love with his best friend only....he doesn't know.

Ana tries hard to not look over at Eddie and Buck too often after that, deciding it’s probably best to simply leave them to enjoy their date together but, even so, she still notices as they get up to leave; Buck placing his hand comfortably by the small of Eddie’s back as he leads him away, Eddie leaning into him either out of tiredness or just because (or both), fitting together like they were literally made for one another.
Silently, she wishes them the best of luck in their future.

Summary
“C’mon Doc, I’m fine, nothing wrong with me that some rest and painkillers won’t fix.”
Just hearing Eddie’s voice from down the hallway, hoarse but strong and steady, is enough to slow Buck down from his jog through the hospital hallways. Well, hearing Eddie’s voice, and seeing the disapproving looks from literally every single nurse he passes. When he gets to Eddie’s room, the doctor standing at Eddie’s bedside has her arms crossed, and Eddie’s giving her his best puppy dog eyes. They’re proving less effective than usual apparently, maybe on account of how red-rimmed Eddie’s eyes still are, because the doctor shakes her head.
“Maybe so, but I’m not comfortable releasing you unless there’s someone who can keep an eye on you for the rest of the night, Mr. Diaz,” she says.
Buck looks after Eddie, after the events of "Eddie Begins".

It is somewhat of a bittersweet end, the final act of the documentary: ending on an occasion so full of joy and laughter that it hurts to conclude the story there, to know that there is no more afterwards. But as the camera focuses on Chimney’s bright ceaseless smile as he introduces his daughter to all of Ravi’s relatives, the way Hen and Nash’s wife laugh together by the cake table, Buck’s warm eyes as he hugs his sister, it is hard to feel sad. These people are happy, and they are together, and they are family, and they will be long after the documentary crew step out of the firehouse for the last time.

“Shit, shit, shit,” he cursed as he gripped the wrist of his injured hand, holding it above his heart. The cut wasn’t massive and, by design, not something you could stitch, but that didn’t make it any less messy or risky.
The blood thinners were not his friend right now.
A singular river of red trailed down his forearm to his elbow, then dripped onto the floor, leaving little splatters that his shoes soon smeared against the tile.
“Towel, towel, towel,” he said, spinning on his heel, gaze raking the room frantically. “Fuck—shit, there you are.”
Buck wanted fajitas, so he went to the store for the sweet onions he needed, but he got the wrong kind because he unexpectedly ran into the team, which had nothing to do with why he was crying in his kitchen--obviously, the shitty onions were to blame.
And his day just gets worse from there--as he ends up fileting off a strip of skin, bleeding everywhere, then accidentally hitting his talk-to-text and sending a ramble he never meant anyone to hear to the last person on earth to care: Eddie.
