When Tally Craven shows up for a voluntary Knower experiment at War College, she doesn't think the off-Canon Work is going to ruin her entire weekend. But as Tally's power is tested, General Alder loses her memories. All of them, save for the first 19 years of her life, only one year after signing the Accords.
While Alder's officers are tasked with restoring the General's memories and quite literally holding down the Fort, Tally becomes Sarah's confidant, learning so much more about the woman than what the history books say.

For supposedly being one of the finest Knowers in decades, Tally often felt like she knew very little.
She didn't know how to process the dreams that kept her up at night since becoming un-biddied. Mothertongue, that was tough. Handling Raelle and Abigail's teasing about her life choices, that could be a lot.
And mostly, she definitely didn't have a clue how to handle having a debilitating attraction and world-class crush on the most powerful woman on the literal planet, who definitely would never feel the same way.
Anyway. It was fine. It was all just fine.
Or,
Tally's nightmares never stop; in fact, they become a form of emotional torture that keeps her up at night. Alder, in a twist, agrees to help Tally through late-night meetings, and Tally is faced with an entirely different kind of emotional torture.

“Quite some time? So, we’ve met before?” Tally whispered hesitantly, unsure she wanted the answer at the look of familiarity on the General’s face.
“Yes.” There’s a fond smile of recollection on the older woman’s face as she answers the redhead. The deep blue of the General’s aura almost sparkles with it.
“When?” The question squeaks out of terrified lips.
“The first time?” The older woman asks for clarification. Tally can only nod as she feels as though she’s just swallowed a hot coal. The General looks to the ceiling squinting, as if recalling a memory.
“It was 1679 in Eastern Europe, I was four.” General Alder tells her and Tally promptly chokes on her own saliva.
