It's late at night, and your headlights aren't working properly when you hit and kill a man that you don't recognise. It had been entirely your fault. You were driving recklessly, more focused on your own anger than the road. If you were a better person, maybe you'd turn yourself in, so you could be held accountable and the man's family be given some closure. But you're not a better person. You've decided the world has taken far too much from you.
For some inane reason, Billy Hargrove - Hawkins' resident heartthrob, and more importantly, the man that beat the shit out of one of your best friends - helps you cover it up.

There's a looming darkness on the horizon, and Briar finds herself drawn to it in the same way a muggle may watch a car crash. It's a horrific and deadly event, deeply unpleasant to look at, but we humans have an innate desire to watch blood run through the streets.

Just weeks ago, political activist Hermione Granger had been one of the jurors to convict serial killer and alleged cult leader Tom Marvolo Riddle of a host of violent crimes, including multiple counts of murder and grievous bodily harm.
He had almost managed to convince the other jurors that he was innocent, enrapturing them with his alluring visage and a story about his less than pleasant upbringing.
But, in spite of all of his anglicism, perfect looks and charismatic disposition, Hermione Granger could see straight through him, to the monster that lay beneath. Eventually, she had convinced the other jurors to see it, too.
