Lampert's power cord tail whipped around agitatedly. His hands unwittingly clutched the unsanitary rails for balance. Things were going so, so horribly wrong. "I'm just- afraid of getting infected too. So please- give me some space," Lampert pleaded, his voice tight.
Instead of following Lampert's request, Infected leaned in even closer. 3 inches now, close enough that Lampert could feel Infected's warm breath on his lampshade. Infected's face glowed from the brightness of Lampert's lightbulb. "1 dunN0, th4t d03sn't s33m qu1t3 r1ght t0 m3…" he mused. "Why h4v3n't y0u pu5h3d m3 4w4y y3t?"
Lampert's eyes widened. Why hadn't he pushed Infected away? This level of closeness with an infected person was highly dangerous. It put him at increased risk of contracting Infected's virus. So why wasn't he pushing him away? Why wouldn't his hands move from the rails? Why did he feel frozen in place?
Why did he want Infected to be closer?
OR
Wires get crossed and Lampert's extreme germaphobia somehow evolves into a very odd kink. Lampert is in denial (but also unspeakably horny).
