Summary
After Techno broke Dream out of prison and nursed him back to health – physically, at least – Dream finds himself on the steps of Kinoko Kingdom where he is found by Karl. Instead of turning him in, Karl notices that something isn´t quite right and gives Dream shelter. It opens up a stony path full of struggling and pain and maybe trying to heal old wounds.

“What do you mean?” Dream snaps, flaring to life all at once like someone lit a match inside him, flames of a gasoline fire burning behind his eyes as he stands from the bed, glaring down at him, “I’m not fucking joking, Sapnap, I want a straight answer. It might be obvious to you, but I thought- I thought-”
It’s still there, that fire trapped inside him, but it’s burning up all the oxygen Dream has left, leaving him more and more deflated with each second.
And then he flips the switch. Pulling him out of the dark and into the light, forcing him to keep his eyes fixed on the blaze of his own making.
“I thought we were fine until you left. Until I saw you with Karl. The way you looked at him.”He feels the matchbox in his hands.
“I just want to know when, Sapnap,” and Dream is thoroughly deflated now, the fire sizzling out into ashes, into dust, “I want to know when I stopped being enough for you.”
