Phainon's a mechanic, and Mydei's his childhood friend and his racer.
As a friend, he's one that disappeared without warning after graduation, and as a racer, he's one that got thrown at them from management who seems to have a death wish with how much he's crashed their car, as if he's duty bound to do it. This night's different though – Mydei's finally won a major race, and joined them at the afterparty to boot. Drunk on love and liquid courage on their way out, after weeks of driving and years of yearning, Phainon finally gathers the nerve to clumsily, maybe, proposition him at last.
The summer's humid, the night is young, and these ice creams are just what they need.

Summary
The war is won, and Ferdinand von Aegir is a newly married man – by necessity, naturally, but by choice as well, to none other than Hubert's sister. Where it feels luxurious that their biggest problem as of late consists only of unruly nobles unwilling to shake off their riches, a far larger issue at hand is that Ferdinand appears to have been keeping secrets – an act entirely unbecoming of himself.

Not only does he have to navigate the political nightmare without Ferdinand's patience for nonsense, Hubert must also get to the bottom of where his friend and brother-in-law has vanished to amidst people telling lies, underground activity in Hrym, and something sinister, wild, and massive moving in the woods.
