I’ve already written a post about my impressions after watching DAIMA, lamenting how so many promising settings involving the Glind people ended up wasted. Now I want to dig deeper: why on earth did Akira Toriyama handle things this way? I’ve come to realize the real key lies with Shin himself.
I may need another two or three chapters to fully unpack the wasted setups in DAIMA and the sheer absurdity they produce, before explaining why Shin is the character the creator simply cannot confront.

This review piece was written in early March last year. It was originally intended for IMDb, but I discovered their comment section has a strict 600-character limit.
It wasn't until yesterday that I realized AO3 also allows non-fiction analytical works, so I decided to post it here.

"Please tell me the definition of 'strength'? If I am truly strong, why am I powerless and helpless in the face of life's impermanence and fragility?"

Beerus, invincible and unstoppable, realizes he cannot overcome the dictates of fate, cannot prevail over death, and cannot face the inevitability of losing his beloved. Yet, what he lacks, Shin seems to have taught him with his life.

What if Shin hadn’t been sidelined? What if the divine authority Shin represents was truly valued?

Some people criticize Shin as "incompetent," but isn’t he forced to be "incompetent" for the plot to progress? Otherwise, how would the story move forward?

Are these critics really ready to see what the Buu Saga would look like if Shin were taken seriously, instead of being trampled and humiliated after playing a minor role? Really? Come on, let’s do it! Let’s dive in.

    Bookmarker's Notes

As long as many Dragon Ball fans continue to misunderstand Shin, the pain of Shin's fans will be difficult to heal. Shin is essentially outstanding, with profound contributions, resilience, selflessness, and unique insight. However, the story's narrative needs to focus on the Saiyans and protect the so-called protagonist aura, which ends up suppressing Shin. The author clearly saw Shin's tragedy.

For Shin and his fans, I truly feel very sorry.
