    Hawks can’t carry him out himself, he doesn’t have the physical body strength; he used up all his feathers during the fight. All his pathetic arms can do is cradle Enji and stem the blood loss.

    “Hawks?” Enji voice is wet, spitting up blood with the word. His eyes are searching unseeingly for the other man.

    “I’m right here, Enji,” he reassures as he uses his sleeve to brush some of the blood from his lover’s face “I’m right here with you, Big Guy, help is almost here, just hang on.” His voice carries the same false confidence he always relies on to mask his feelings. He knows Enji can see right through it, but the older man smiles anyway, just a little, soft. This isn’t Endeavor the Hero looking up at Hawks right now. This is Enji the man, the man Hawks wants to spend his life beside- however much is left.

    "What's going on?" Hizashi carefully asks, aware that the slightest thing might be enough to set Shouta off right now and Shouta lets out a long, measured breath.

    "New mission," he shortly gives back and Hizashi tenses.

    "When?"

    "Next week. Deep undercover, set to last for two months at least."

    "No."

    Hizashi speaks before the words even fully register, before he's even aware that he's going to speak at all but. No. This is not happening.

    "Hizashi," Shouta warily starts but Hizashi has had it with Shouta's agency.

    "You can't go. You've barely been back two weeks, Shouta!"
