“But it did what you hoped it would.”
She nodded, feeling like a bobblehead, not trusting herself to speak.
It had done what she hoped it would—and more. It was a desperate act. Foolish. Reckless. Dangerous.

Sideways Cities always had something of a flavor to them, in Marcius’ esteemed opinion. Under Rome tasted like his mother’s garden in high summer — sharp and green and achingly familiar. Philip, the lug, was trotting at his side with his tongue out, happy as can be. He’d already sneakily stolen two meat pies and a bagel. Marcius knew he should be stricter with him, but the puppy-eyes were too much.
Wells were old magic. Older than roads, older than wheels probably. His mum always said they’d learned Well-travel in the days when the Fae still ruled the Woods and the Gods walked alongside mortals. Which sounded terribly grand, right up until someone mentioned the nausea.
Wells were also unsafe, especially for crossing continents. Most were so ancient — tangled with stray leylines and forgotten crossroads — that you might step in expecting Florence and come out two weeks later in Iceland, missing a shoe.

Spying on the League of Villains was a dangerous mission, but not a complicated one. Hawks was prepared to go through with it, to risk his life if it meant that other people might be saved in the process. Was not prepared to find out that Dabi and Tomura Shigaraki are dating. Was absolutely not prepared for the HPSC to reclassify his assignment as a honeytrap in the hopes that getting between the two would break up the League. Doesn't think anyone was prepared for what happens instead.

“That does it!” he snapped, his beady little eyes focused solely on Harry, “It’s you that they want. And they won’t stop coming after us until you’re… gone”.

“Don’t worry, pet” Vernon said, his nasty grin triumphant, “I’ll leave him someplace so far away that those freaks will never trace him back to us. There’s an institute up north, for these- these hopeless cases and whatnot - St Brutus's Secure Centre for Boys. I’ll leave him there, and then we can get back to our nice, normal life”.Or, the one where Harry doesn't attend Hogwarts in first year but finds his way to the wizarding world anyway, and this changes everything.
