I would not say he is in any state of life, though others may think differently; I have seen Bearers calcified to complete paralysis with more life in them. Although he has no injuries and Ultima’s prison is gone, his heart does not beat, and he does not breathe. He seems to be at peace but his body… is not moving on.”
Dion wakes up after Origin to find that he has survived, but Joshua has…not. But he isn’t gone, either. A story about Dion coming to understand who he is, what Joshua means to him, and what he must finally do.

Joshua doesn’t think himself much of an impulsive person, but in that moment, something beyond his reasoning pushed him towards Dion. Like firebirds seeking light, Joshua wrapped his hand around Dion’s arm, allowing for star-blessed blue eyes to connect with heavensward-amber. The surprise of his sudden actions was evident in Dion’s eyes, but that didn't deter Joshua from his path.

The prince’s affection for the knight was clear as day and Joshua admonished himself for feeling hurt by it. To start with, it was ridiculous to hope that he has a chance with him after all those years without communication. It was a fleeting fantasy, the leftover affection for the boy he knew twelve years ago fueled by the information, songs, and adoration that he heard from other people. He would get over it, he comforted himself.
As the Phoenix, Joshua was used to fire coursing through his veins. He was meant to burn as the Warden of Fire, as the ruler of life and death. But to burn as a weapon or as a healer is one thing, to burn with desire is another.
And he must desist.

目前读过的小说里我最喜欢的迪翁塑造，一如原作的坚定、高尚和忠诚，但如此完美之人也有不完美的一面：处理自身情感时的犹豫不决，笨拙与自私——而我希望他能更自私一些，他在原作中的无私奉献已经足够多了。同理约书亚也是一样，所以在他们放下负罪感遵从内心欲望，追求真实自我时散发的人性光芒令人着迷。
