Summary
When John leaves upstate for a few days and comes back to find his boyfriend a completely different person, he has no clue on how to handle any of it.
Alexander isn’t speaking to him. Not in the “I’m mad at you” way, but it’s something completely different. He won’t even look him in the eye.
His attempts at trying to help Alex are falling flat; neither one of them were making progress with each other.
And it scares John.

Summary
———————————————————————————
John Laurens lives in a small college town, working in a local bakery. He practically runs the place; his boss tends to understaff the joint. He finds passion in baking, as it helps him distract himself from his issues, yet still feels shame in it.
Alexander Hamilton is a recently accepted student at King's college. A slightly awkward yet outwardly passionate student, he's studying law and is taking a legal internship at a nearby law firm.
There isn't much going for either of them, and that fact just may be the exact reason why they form a connection so easily.
———————————————————————————
"One medium black coffee... and a cupcake..." John punches his order into the register, pulling a cup off of the top of a stack of them on the counter. He pulls a clickable sharpie out of his apron, pulls the cap off with his mouth, and clicks open the marker, "Name?"
"I'm- I'm the only one here," he replies, a feeble attempt at a joke.
"It's company policy," John deadpans, sharpie in hand.
He pauses for a moment, unsure of how to respond. He lets out a small laugh, before crossing his arms, "Alex."

Summary
Prospective hockey player, John Laurens, is a senior at Hunter College in Brooklyn, NYC. He rejected the NHL draft for the Carolina Hurricanes three times before he hit the age he no longer qualified. At 19, he had moved up north with his closest friend, Hercules, so he could catch a breath of a fresh start. Now he was 21 and team captain of the Hunter Hawks’ State Hockey Team, with the NY Rangers snaking into his life every which way, trying to convince him to try out. The biggest thing keeping him from living that dream was his beloved daughter, Frances. He couldn’t imagine a world where he wasn’t her father, and he didn’t want the NHL to take that pride from him.
On the opposite end of the stick, there was Alexander Hamilton, recognized for his copybook ability to fall apart. He was profoundly in debt at only 19, working two jobs, in school full-time, and writing a novel—all with a toddler—Philip Hamilton—attached to his hip. After an inexcusable incident with his last roommate, it was harder than ever to find a new, suitable roomie.
But after getting kicked out of his ex’s home, John was in search for an adequate place to stay. And on the first day back at college, he miraculously found Alex’s flier…

Summary
The mirror was broken. The jagged shards of glass framed an empty hole in the centre where her fist had collided. Eliza looked down, vaguely registering the scarlet liquid dripping from her knuckles, the broken fragments of the mirror still embedded in her hands.
She had felt angry, mere seconds before, when her fist had collided with the surface. So blindingly angry that she felt as if she had gone up in flame with those blasted letters, every inch of her body incandescent.
Now all she felt was numb. And tired. So achingly tired, exhausted in a way that sleep could not heal.
Where was he now?, she thought, her hands shaking as she fumbled with a bandage. Where was the man she had loved?
Or,
Eliza confronts Alexander about the affair

Summary
Thomas isn’t sure what his relationship with Alexander is, but instead of talking it out like an adult, he lets his anxious mind jump to the worst possible conclusions.
Also known as:
that extremely ambiguous, highly dysfunctional, a little toxic, and unnecessarily complicated situation Thomas has with his work rival.

Summary
Alex keeps hold of the paper, trying to consider how to handle this situation. On any other occasion he would just get Madison and make him deal with it, but Madison is away schmoozing potential clients in Dubai for the next two weeks. He could call Gil, but Gil is frankly not their most responsible friend, and there’s decent chance he’ll simply leave Jefferson alone with a bottle of brandy and tell him to sleep it off. And it’s not like Alex has any interest in being involved enough in Jefferson’s social circle to know any of his other friends.
No. For some godforsaken reason, the cosmos has conspired to make this Alex’s problem.
Fucking great.
It's such a simple, convenient arrangement. Amazing sex on tap, with no obligation, no commitment, and no requirement to care. The fact that they hate each other is an irrelevant side note.
Until Jefferson gets sick.
Because of course, it's always simple until it's not.
