Summary
Branch never intended for things between him and John Dory to be so weird after the whole Mount Rageous fiasco. But the guy turned around and abandoned him for twenty whole years, and then just barged back into his life by literally crashing his friend’s royal wedding? Yeah, he was pretty sure things were gonna be weird whether he wanted them to be or not.
So when John Dory finally asked if they could talk about it, Branch lost his temper. He didn’t mean to, he honestly didn’t, but twenty years was a really long time to let those feelings fester, and an even longer time to be alone.
But then John Dory does something stupid, reckless, and extraordinary, and Branch is forced to face the fact that maybe, just maybe, he was wrong about him. Maybe John Dory isn’t the selfish monster he’d spent twenty years thinking he was.
He just hoped he would get the chance to apologize.

Summary
The younger brothers call for a break so they can figure things out in their heads. This comes at a bad time as John just discovered he's pregnant after a fling in the mountains from before rescuing Floyd. Not wanting to do anything to jeopardize his rocky relationship with his brothers, John agrees to the break. Even though it means having to handle the rest of his pregnancy by himself.

When John Dory receives word from his Grandma that Branch isn't doing so well, he feels obliged to go back. Just to check, just to make sure they were okay. He never expected this.
Basically, what if John Dory had no idea his other brothers had actually left? He returns to find Branch grey, malnourished and living alone outside the village, and he decides he has to step up and be the brother Branch needs him to be.
