Summary
Percy didn’t mean to lie. Truly, he didn’t. He wished he could tell everyone the truth. It would be less of a burden for him, and for everyone else. But he couldn’t. If he told them the truth, they would see how broken he is. They would see him the way he saw himself. He didn’t want that.
Part of him hoped that if he told the lies enough, they would eventually come true, like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Unfortunately for Percy, prophecies never seemed to go the way he wanted them to.
OR
Percy Jackson desperately needs therapy and other mental health help, but, unfortunately, that would require him to actually acknowledge the problem first, and he is NOT going to do that. And it's also Thanksgiving, by the way.

Summary
Halloween used to be Percy’s favorite holiday. He loved getting candy and dressing up. He liked that, for once, nobody questioned why a little kid was running around by himself.
Now, it felt like a chore. He already put on a mask every day for the people in his life. He dressed up as a happy, carefree guy who just went with the flow and moved on from everything that might make any other person feel a little down. He charaded as a guy that could easily go through hell and come out on the other side, not only having retained his life, but also his positive attitude.
How could anybody expect him to think of another costume to wear while still keeping every other part of himself together?

Summary
Percy had always hated his birthday. As a kid, his mom was typically working on his birthday and Smelly Gabe definitely wasn’t going to do anything for it. That meant he usually spent it alone. He never had a cake, a party, or many gifts. His mom would usually get him some candy from her store and try to get him something with whatever money she could spare. But it was never a happy day for Percy. It was more a reminder of how lonely he felt.
Every year, he was always surprised to find he survived. As a kid, he always assumed that Gabe would kill him sooner or later. As he got a little older, he assumed he would do something to himself. Then there was the prophecy, of course. Overall, Percy was never very excited about his birthday.

Percy is forced to celebrate his birthday. It’s too bad he can’t be forced to be happy.

Summary
As a kid, Percy used to try to believe that his dad was actually Santa Claus, and that was why he couldn’t ever come home. He would dream about his dad coming through the chimney with a bag full of presents, leaning down, and kissing Percy on the forehead, just like Percy had seen dads do to their sons at school. It was a stupid thought.
OR
Percy and Annabeth go home for the holidays. Percy seems happier, at least for a little while.

He remembered teaching his beginner’s swords fighting lesson. And Hermes appeared with news about…his mom. Their apartment. Singed to pieces. An earthquake. Rain. Lightning.
Singed. Lightning.
Lightning.
Zeus.
It was supposed to be different. They were supposed to change. He said he would change things. What did all of those children die for?
He felt naive. He felt tired. Worst of all, he didn’t even feel surprised. Of course, they didn’t change. They were incapable of real change. Sure, they’ll understand for a little bit. They’ll become more attentive and act like they care. Then, they’ll turn around and go back to their old ways the second they lose someone, or they see a face just too pretty to pass up.
He couldn’t even blame them. Humans created the idea of gods being perfect, but that perfection lacked anything real. They weren’t substantial, they didn’t have normal feelings; they weren’t anything but selfish, and cruel, and proud. They were used to taking what they wanted when they wanted it, with no consequences.
Well, it was about time they faced some consequences.
