He had wished he had some way to contact Derek. He used to send him emails every week during the hunt. He sent one every month that first year, but after a while it just slipped his mind, raising a kid and running a pack taking up his time instead of an outbox of unanswered emails. He doubted that Derek would ever come back, Beacon Hills had caused him nothing but pain since he was just a kid.
He just wished he could meet Luke. He wanted him to see how strong and how good he was even after all of that. He wanted Derek to see Luke’s beta form and that his Blue eyes are a symbol of just how much he has survived. That everyday he sees Erica’s fire and Boyd’s steadiness in how Luke plays and talks. Maybe he wanted to show Derek that Beacon Hills was somewhere worth coming back to now, that it was a home now.

And John didn’t even have words for how excited he was.
He glances at the name of the editor one more time, brows furrowed as he tries to remember who the fuck Ghost is.
