There’s obvious steps that Gyro should list off, more than willing to be overly helpful despite Lucy feeling mortified for asking and receiving a positive answer. She was expecting a volcano blowing its top, a nuclear meltdown or skinning your knee in a roller rink.
Gyro decides to visibly pity her, hand settling to pat her shoulder and suggest, “Fuck him, I guess. There’s not much else you could do for that.”
Her response comes automatically, “He would never. He told me so-“
“Because he wanted to, or because it’s the right thing to do?”
That catches her off guard, his laugh coming across despite the awkward situation he’s just set up like an inopportune game of Monopoly, “Diamond, do you think men are good because they want to be? Or because it’s expected to assimilate?”
