Summary

When her mum keeps nagging her about kickstarting her love life, Rose spins a tale that involves dating her neighbor, John, who is no more than a good friend. It's all an innocent white lie until Jackie calls and tells Rose that she's coming to visit and can't wait to meet her boyfriend.

Summary
The Darkling claims the Ravkan throne, and when he finds Alina and her group of friends, he offers her a deal, to hand herself over and he'll let the others go free. It's not an offer she can refuse.
But the people of Ravka are unnerved to hear of the Sun Saint marrying the Dark Tsar, and there are rumours of plans for rebel armies forming to free the saint from the Darkling's grasp. They won't win, Alina knows this. Her only hope for saving thousands of lives is for her to convince them that she is with the Darkling by choice, that she loves him and doesn't need saving.
The problem is that she's a terrible liar, and when a group of people ask her to tell them the truth, she's forced to skirt around it, listing the things she does like about her husband, and finds that perhaps she likes him more than she thought.
