“I’m sorry you didn’t have enough time with him,” Hope murmured as she caught the surprise and confusion on Caroline’s face, and she slowly sank down onto the older woman’s lap, straddling her with ease, as if being close to Caroline would somehow bring Hope closer to her father. “Take your time with me instead.”
“Even your lips are the same,” Caroline whispered, suddenly mesmerized as her eyes settled on Hope’s mouth and lingered there until a pained expression crossed her face. “The color…the Cupid’s bow… God, I still remember what it felt like to kiss him.”
“What did it feel like?”
And then Caroline’s hands were on her slim waist, gripping her firmly and drawing her in, fingers splayed across the small of her back as the blonde vampire leaned upward without another moment’s consideration or hesitation and caught Hope’s mouth in a tender, exploratory, and desperate kiss.
In which Hope and Caroline are both still searching for pieces of Klaus.
