Summary
The Mikaelson's lost their youngest member right after she was born or so they thought. In reality Hope's death had been faked and she had been taken and raised by Triad since she was a child along with Landon. Hope always knew she was the tribrid, that she was meant to destroy Malivore, she was their greatest weapon and their greatest fear. Landon grew up knowing he was a phoenix and the son of Malivore. Despite destiny saying they should be enemies the two kids formed an unbreakable bond becoming each other's family. After their escape the two end up in Mystic Falls where they meet some interesting people. Despite how hard they've fought they'll realize they've never been able to change their fate.

Malivore had been planning for the day he would get his freedom back since he lost it. He wasn’t stupid; he had a failsafe. multiple, four bodies in total. But never in a million years would he expect a backup plan to be better than his original one. So much so that he gave up on his other children. The tribrid was even found of the body, a bigger bonus. Add in that Landon inherited his own powers, something that shouldn’t have happened. And his own malivore side was more interesting than the run-of-the-mill monster. His soon-to-be vessel was surrounded by an old project and a bloodline that would make most people cower in fear.

Landon in the show had been dealt a bad hand, hopping from foster home to foster home. In this fic I am delving deeper into what he went through, the difference is that both Landon and Rafael know each for their whole childhood's - not just 1-2 years and they live in the same foster home the entire time.
In this AU there were times it would get so bad, that any time he got the chance...he would sneak out and run to the only place he felt solace: D&D campaigns. Raf would cover for him until he returns.
One time in particular is when he met this boy around his age. Ethan. They spent hours - longer than he should have been out because they lost track of time giggling and having fun together. That is until; Landon notices the time. He spouts quick apologies and runs off - leaving Ethan confused and concerned.
Years later they reunite at high school. Landon is unsure if he even remembers him, because Ethan was the light that Landon held onto in his darkest hours. He was so young, he didn't know what it all meant back then. But, seeing him now. Seeing the guy that the little boy he played that one campaign with turned out to be - he understood.
Ethan was Landon's first crush.
