Summary
He expects someone who will treat them with high-handed disinterest and send himself and the men to die without a thought. He expects to have to reign in and train them out of ideas borne of a lot of schooling and politics and not much actual time spent on a battlefield. He’s seen it all before, casual cruelty and sneers down at him for having the audacity to speak. None of those expectations manage to prepare him for Thrain.
