Summary
Buck and Eddie were the only two from their shift left at the station. Their shift had just ended and while the others had quickly grabbed their things and headed out, Buck and Eddie lingered. Neither would admit it, at least not at the time, but they weren’t quite ready to part from each other, even after spending the previous twelve hours working side by side.

Basically this is 900 words of fluff.

Summary
Eddie had always loved late-night drives. Something about it made him feel at peace in a way few other things could. With the radio turned down low and the roads empty save for the occasional headlights, he could feel the tension and anxiety from the day fading away. It was just him and the open road and nothing else mattered.
After moving to Los Angeles, those aimless drives became more and more infrequent. Whether it be the constant traffic, inflated gas prices, or his busy schedule, Eddie always had an excuse stopping him from giving in when the urge arose.
On a day like today, though, when he couldn’t quite get out of his head and shake away the restless energy buzzing within, Eddie felt the familiar itch to grab his keys and just go.
OR
Eddie has a bad day, so Buck shows up to take him out for a drive. Ice cream and love confessions happen along the way.

Summary
Buck hears Eddie’s sharp inhale of breath. He’s terrified that he’s revealed too much, that he’s just ruined the best friendship he’s ever had. The confidence he felt only moments ago is replaced with panic. He leaps from the couch and beelines to the front door in hopes of escaping before Eddie finds the words to reject him. Buck knows Eddie will be kind about it, they’re still best friends after all, but Buck doesn’t think he has the strength to have his heart shattered at that moment. Not when his feelings are still so raw. He wanted to be brave, but now he wishes he had let himself live in the fantasy for just a little longer. At least then he’d still have hope.
Or
Buck realizes he's in love with Eddie and they actually talk about it.

Summary
“How do you not know about this?” Maddie asked, still confused. “You always know everything.”
“Yes, but he has terrible luck in relationships,” Chim teased. “Buck’s never had to worry about being a couple on Valentine’s before.”
“Rude. A killer would love to try and murder me, I bet.”
“Asking you again to think before you speak, Buck,” Maddie sighed.
Or there's a serial killer targeting couples in LA on Valentine's Day but Buck's more worried about the new guy at work.

Summary
“Um. He’s.. well — he has a list. An…agenda.”
“An agenda?”
“Yes. Like, you know. It’s a - - it’s a gay agenda,” Buck winces.
“Great. Okay. So, my son is queer-eyeing me?”
“I believe that is what’s about to happen, yes.”
“Wonderful.”
Or, Christoper hyper-fixates on Queer Eye and takes it out on his freshly gay father. Buck's there, too.

Summary
So he curls his fingers around the wood of his clipboard and clears his throat. “You have really nice hands, you know,” is what he goes with.
Eddie jerks back just a bit, dropping the halligan into the compartment with a thud as he turns shocked eyes back to Buck. “What?”
“Yeah,” god, what does he even say, “they’re uh, strong. And capable. You know, like…they can do a lot of things.”
Okay, so, maybe this whole plan needs a little bit of work.
buck is on a mission to help eddie recover his self-confidence. it goes well for exactly zero parties involved.

Summary
“Which do you think makes you feel most loved?”
Eddie thought for a long moment. Too long, maybe. Then he shrugged, “Honestly, Buck? I have no idea.”
Buck’s brows pinched up. “What do you mean? When have you felt the most loved?”
“Don’t make a big thing of this, Buck. Promise?”
Buck made a show of crossing his heart, brows still raised curiously.
“I’m not sure I’ve ever… really felt loved in a relationship? I’m not convinced that I know what makes me feel loved…”

After finding out that Eddie doesn't know what his love language is, Buck sets about finding out for him. He begins a five week experiment, one for each love language, to figure out which will make Eddie feel the most loved.

Summary
“Get home safe,” Buck says. Then, as always, he thinks: I love you.
Eddie goes very, very still. His breathing stutters to a stop. There’s a strange expression on his face, his mouth twisting in that way it does when he doesn’t know what to say.
Buck squints blearily at him. “What?”
A muscle in his jaw twitches once. Twice. The muted light illuminates the quiet movement of his throat as he swallows.
“What’d you just say?”
“Get home safe,” Buck repeats, a yawn overtaking the last word. “Why…?”
Or: the one where Buck, drowsy and delirious on pain medication, confesses his love to Eddie without realizing it.
