    The latest installment of the Boromir-Lives LOTR rewrite. Helm's Deep has concluded and we are on to the Return of the King.

    Boromir and Gandalf are off to Gondor to see what they can do to help. Aragorn, because he likes to take the most whack routes possible, is to drag the remainder Fellowship through the paths of the dead. No one signed up for this.

    With our Rohan compatriots: Grima continues to be a hot wreck who is actually managing himself not half-bad, all things considered. Eowyn just wants to really, really fight the baddies. Theoden thinks everyone needs to cool it for ten seconds. Eomer has never heard the word "chill" in his life.

    When an anonymous group target his businessman father, Jensen Ackles doesn’t think too much of it. When the threats become more specific to him – specifically, his dying horribly in their hands – he thinks maybe he might take them a little more seriously.

    However, his father’s solution to ship him off to some house in the middle of nowhere for protection? A fate worse than death, in Jensen's opinion. May as well give him over to the killers.

    Only, it doesn’t turn out to be so bad. Sure, there’s a semi-psychotic female who seems hell-bent on threatening him at every turn, and a seemingly never-ending list of chores, but there’s also Jared. Jared, who lives alone in a cottage and who everyone seems fiercely protective of. Jared, whose past is shrouded in total mystery. Jared, who Jensen just can’t seem to get out of his head.

    On the eve of the third world war, major world powers built machines to stand in the place of human soldiers. Who knew the machines would get along better than the humans ever did? Governments and cities fell one after another as the machines -- red-eyed, metal monsters built to level cities and destroy humanity -- wreaked havoc across the world. Now there is no communication, no infrastructure, no law to rely on, and people are living in scattered pockets across the globe. Jensen is a member and unsaid leader of one of those camps, dug into underground bunkers by night, and raiding the desolate husk of a broken city by day. Jared finds his way to the ragtag group of survivors, and they all struggle to find their place in a world that is nothing like what they have known.
