"my mother," says Noel, "and my brother."
"Maybe they died," the old man on the phone says, "the last people who lived here died."
"yeah," Noel answers, "that's probably it."

    Summary

“We need to work together,” Lochlan blinks against a sudden onslaught of tears. “To handle this.”
“Me,” Saxon answers, voice cold and hard as ice, “I will handle it. Not you. Baby brother.” he says it and his voice is dripping with scorn, like the nickname is a bad taste in his mouth.
And the thing is, it’s not that Saxon is never mean to him. He is, often. But there’s always something to do. You apologize even if he was the one who lost his temper, you drink the warm beer he has smuggled to you even though you hate the taste, you stop reading and turn to face him and he lights up. And it is all okay. Lochlan doesn’t know what to do now, how to break the spell.
The few people who have seen a beach in advance of a tidal wave have described it, not as beautiful, but as like being on another planet. The floor of the ocean laid bare in a way it was never meant to be.

Or, Timothy kills himself in prison and his family deals with the fallout.

    Summary

"It’s like Noah’s flood,” Lochlan is organizing the kitchen cabinets. They have enough ramen for weeks, if they can figure out how to boil the water. He wonders if making a small fire in the sink would violate the terms of their lease. He wonders if it even matters.
“Who?” Saxon scrolls through his phone. No reception, still, no internet, so he has taken to scrolling through the several hundred photographs he has saved. Every fifteen minutes or so, he reaches a point where he looks sick and quickly puts the phone down, but starts again at the top almost at once. Lochlan hasn’t even set his phone out to charge.
    “Noah. From the Bible?”
“I don’t read that stuff,” Saxon scoffs.

Saxon and Lochlan move to the North Carolina coast after Timothy's arrest, and get caught in a hurricane

    Summary

“Today was good,” Artie says to him as they sit on the edge of the wooden riser that comprises their backstage, a familiar old smoke break even if neither of them smokes anymore. Litter drifts by in the breeze and heaps itself in piles against the wooden fence in front of them.
“We were good,” Paul answers. A silence, but an easy one, and then Artie starts to stand up and Paul grabs his sleeve to pull him back down. “We should keep doing this.”
“This?” Artie gestures at the litter, the dingy concrete step.
“Performing. Idiot.” Paul shakes his head, “Come on the rest of the tour.”
In his head, Artie has already said yes. He is booking them dinner at that vegetarian place in Chicago. He is dreaming up a new set list.
“I don’t think so,” Artie says instead.

    Summary

“You weren’t really scared, right?’ Saxon asks him. Lochlan stares out over the emptiness and presses his hand hard into the small of Saxon’s back, just for a second, just enough to send him off balance. Saxon pitches forward, sways back, takes one small step closer to the edge to catch himself. Lochlan clenches his fist into the fabric of his shirt, into the meat of Saxon’s back, as Saxon laughs a high, startled laugh and doesn’t look at him.
“No,” Lochlan answers. He feels Saxon’s heartbeat just beneath his skin and thinks how easy it would be, just one more push. “I wasn’t scared at all.”
Pre-series the Ratliff family visits National Parks and Lochlan and Saxon have some miserable bonding.

    Summary

“You’re a messy drunk,” Dean says into his hair, says it with so much affection. Sam smiles. It doesn’t sound like a criticism when Dean says it.
Time goes liquid but eventually Dean laughs, easy and unforced.
“My legs are going to sleep. Anyway, time for us to go to sleep.”
“Yeah,” Sam tucks his face deeper into the crook of Dean’s neck, “sure.”
“Sure,” Dean repeats, then gets an arm under Sam’s knees and, with a groan, scoops him up and carries him across to the bedroom. He dumps Sam a little roughly on his bed and Sam bounces against the mattress, giggling. Dean moves to turn away and Sam grabs his wrist.
“No,” he whispers. “No. You said you wouldn't leave.”
