“I know you don’t trust me,” Derek grunted. When Stiles inhaled to retort, Derek caught his chin and pressed a finger against his lips, making the boy freeze in place, eyes impossibly wide. “Don’t argue. I expected it. Wolves don’t trust easily, too. I just wanted you to know that… I’m sorry. I was selfish and didn’t see what was in front of me. You don’t need to worry. I’ll take care of everything.”
It was a thought that grew in his mind, spread to his heart and took root there, reincorporating into a deep desire and a vital need. Derek will take care of him and his little pup, he’ll bring the hearts of his enemies and put them at the boy’s feet. He’ll court and he’ll conquer.

God, if only he knew. If only his wolf were here, Stiles would’ve run and told him everything, because this? This was huge. This was something you’d share with the love of your life.
He remembered the phone numbers he didn’t delete. The contact he didn’t text. The same one that remained silent for months. It could have been refreshing and easy to hate him. And Stiles was angry — so angry at his wolf — but hating? No. Derek was invincible from that.
Love weakened Stiles. It turned his bones into sludge, and he could do nothing but sink to the floor and lie there, rotting. Left all alone with such tremendous love, Stiles imploded and curled under its weight. He wasn’t supposed to bear it alone. They weren’t supposed to be apart, and certainly not go for so long without contact. This bond was bigger than him, but… just enough for the two of them.
Come back, he repeated like a mantra in his head. He screamed it once that cursed night and hadn’t been able to stop. Come back.

Stiles thought about him the most. Something told him that it wasn’t the last time, far from it. He thought about his softness and his open desire to kill. Stiles’ hands remembered the heat of his hands. His neck longed to feel the coating warmth of Derek’s breath. His lips burned from the kiss that never happened.
Everything was so fucking complicated.
Except one thing.
It was the only clear thought in his head. The one that made his stomach clench from fear, his heart stutter from hope, and his lips stretch in a smile.
He was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with Derek.

Summary
Moonlight caressed the pale skin, leaving kisses on each dot scattered over it. Wisps of crisp, winter air flickered the hair, playful like a child but cold like the fingers of a dead man.
“Come to me.”
Stiles tightened his hands on the window ledge so hard that the wood creaked. The collar of his white nightshirt flapped against his clavicles. His red eyes stared at the moon, unflinching.
“I am sick of waiting,” he grit out. “If you are mine, then come to me. Hear my call.”
The moon hung in the sky, white and silent.
Stiles’ eyes flickered once, twice, before settling into warm whiskey brown.
