Summary
tommy can pitch. he knows he can pitch, but at this moment it’s the last thing he wants to do. he doesn’t want to let the team down. he doesn’t want to let his coaches, phil and techno, down. if he goes in and the batter hits a homerun off him, he wouldn’t hear the end of it. sure, they still have their last at bat and a walk off would be nice, but tommy wanted this game over with and he noticed everyone else did too.

Summary
it was nighttime in essempee, but the city wasn’t asleep. there were boats coming in and out of the port. there were people laughing and dancing to their hearts content in night clubs. the glow of street lights lit up the city. billboards flashed and headlights flew by. mile-high buildings towered over the bustling streets. the metro ran 24/7. ‘the city never sleeps’ is what tourists and old people like to say, but for tommy, it was just an opportunity to stay up late. alleyways were his favorite. so dark and mysterious. sometimes he found a cat, sometimes it was a rat. he found a raccoon once. so beady eyed, tommy fell in love.
little shops lined backroads where tommy would usually hang out. little bodegas and drug stores. sometimes, he stumbled onto things even better.
there was a tiny poster, almost impossible to see if you weren’t looking for it.
‘bot fights. every night. 8pm - midnight. byob (bring your own bot)’
with his interest now piqued. tommy embarked on his new adventure.

charlie loved ben. he loved when they would go to the music room or the library and they would kiss. then he would leave. then they wouldn’t talk to each other. until the next day when they would do it all again. they had a healthy relationship. yeah.

everything is temporary. tommy knows that. tommy, out of all people, should know that. he knows that the longest time he stayed at a foster home was only 219 days and the shortest, was four. one where he could barely unpack anything, and the other, he unpacked too much.
