“I stand by what I said,” Virgil says from the corner where he’s strangling a stress ball to the point of it disintegrating in his hands. “Someone needs to get this guy a fucking hobby. Who even uses the word “effulgent” anymore?”
“I think murdering people is his hobby,” Roman comments as he scribbles through yet another code breaking attempt that led nowhere and provided nothing but a hatred for the English alphabet.

aka, there's a serial killer in town who's leading the FBI around with puzzles and dead bodies, and Roman is trying his best to save as many as he can. Someone should probably tell him to stop being so good at his job before something unfortunate happens to him. -

Summary
Remus can’t decide what expression Roman is wearing under that stupid, silly mask, but he thinks he likes it anyway. Something like horror, something like despair, something like fear and self loathing and nausea that matches the face that’s been haunting him since four years ago in a gas station mirror after he threw himself in front of an eighteen wheeler upon realizing that Roman never cared about him at all.
“Remus,” Roman croaks out.
“I have a power,” Remus says. “I have always had a power. I ruined my own life by saving yours when we were eight years old, but that’s okay. I’m going to fucking fix it right now!”
He raises the gun barrel towards Roman again, steady and simple and confident, right at that bleeding heart of his that for some reason never bled for Remus.
