Summary
Everything is going slowly foggy. The fear is fading. Eddie's vaguely aware that it's probably because he's dying. What was terrifying a couple of minutes ago is only vaguely of interest now. An ephemeral pressure on the back of his brain. Present, yet easy to ignore.
All he can taste is his own blood, but it's not so bad. At least he can tell Dustin how much he loves him. And Steve's there. Steve Harrington. Who knew he would turn out to be such a great guy? So, yeah. It all feels alright. Everyone seems to be fine, so Eddie did what he set out to do.
Eddie was brave.
Eddie feels sleepy, vaguely aware that he's, actually, probably dying.
He closes his eyes.
There's a strange sense of vertigo, strange enough that Eddie notices he's standing up before he notices that someone's kissing him. It's a soft press of lips. It's wonderful.
Eddie blinks his eyes open, and from an inch away, he's looking at Steve Harrington.

Summary
“Are you okay?” Eddie asks again, words drawn out to make sure Steve understands his question, but not like he’s stupid. Gentle understanding suffuses each word.
“Yeah, I’ll be fine.”
“Not what I asked.” Eddie steps closer, and Steve turns again, putting his back to the door. They stand next to each other, arms just inches from touching, and Steve exhales harshly. On his next inhale he catches the scent of leather and roses, covered over with cheap soap and cigarette smoke. “Do you wanna talk about it?” Eddie asks.
“Not really…” Talking about it is the last thing Steve wants, but he also wants to keep standing in Eddie’s space and sharing his air.

“Hi,” he said, flashing a nervous smile. “Are you okay?”
The words felt dumb tumbling from his lips and the man picked up on it just as fast. A stunned, sharp exhale came from the man, and Steve flinched internally. “Really, Harrington? Am I okay? Well, my fucking hands are bleeding and my jeans are completely fucked if you couldn’t tell – so I would say I’m somewhere between not okay and get the fuck out of the car, dude.”
