The milkshake was sweet and light, the strawberry tart and bright dancing on his tongue. He was almost sure they had melded both vanilla and strawberry ice cream together for this, Pete could tell, and it was absolutely delicious. Perhaps the most perfect milkshake he had ever had.
“Y’know, I think we’re a lot like this milkshake,” Pete commented after sliding it back over to Patrick.
Or, Pete and Patrick are trying to figure out what it means to be PeteandPatrick again, and Pete is overthinking it every step of the way. Lucky for him, Patrick is always there to ground him.

That’s what Calum is to him that night. A storm coming to disturb his peaceful life, filling him with adrenaline and a bit of fear at the uncertainty of what could happen.

' Eventually, the girl left, and Ashton's roommate turned around, dragging his suitcase into the room. The first thing Ashton noticed was that the boy was pretty. Not handsome, definitely pretty. Plump pink lips and long eyelashes- Ashton soon realised the boy was wearing makeup.
The boy’s eyes met his own, as if daring Ashton to comment, and Ashton looked at the floor.
"Hi. I'm- I'm Ashton," he cursed the way his voice gave away his nerves, and he quickly glanced up to meet the other boy's eyes again. He looked kind, but wary.
"I'm Calum. I'm gonna say this right away: I'm non-binary, and I use they/them pronouns. If you have an issue with that, you can talk to the RA."
Ashton's brows furrowed in confusion, "non-binary? What's that?" '

"Huh, hi," Calum says awkwardly as he comes to a stop beside him. The boy looks up hastily, startled, his hood sliding off his head to reveal tousled, long-ish curly hair and big blue eyes staring up at him, wet and sad. Calum knows this is him right there and then. “It’s Luke, right?” he asks still, just to be sure. “I’m Calum. Can I sit with you? I don't really have any friends.”
In which Calum meets a boy who struggles with being himself. Calum tries to help, all while pretending he isn't falling in love in the process.
