It was rare to see a young woman and boy out by themselves. It was a cruel world. Kakyoin had personally seen how cruel it could be. He was probably around the same age as the young woman when the pandemic first broke out. He didn’t make it on his own then. He fell into Dio’s clutches. He barely survived at all.

A little over twenty years after the initial outbreak of the virus that ended the world, two strange kids show up at Kakyoin's shack in the middle of the woods. They're lost, far from home, and have no idea how to survive. Kakyoin wishes he could just turn them away but, unfortunately, he finds that he and the kids are more connected than he initially thought.
They have a common enemy.
