"Are you mad at me?"
"Will you shut up? I'm trying to work," Louis grumbles, clicking his pen open obnoxiously with the intention of proving his point, and scribbling random words to pretend like he's busy. He can see Harry's little smile in the corner of his eyes.
"You're so cute when you're annoyed," Harry whispers again, like it's a secret. And there goes the inappropriate comments at the worst times. This is exactly the reason he deserves the promotion and Harry doesn't, the younger guy doesn't even take this job seriously.
Or, the one where Louis and Harry share desks right across from each other at work and are both fighting for the same position. They can’t stand each other, but things get heated in the wrong direction and Louis has to face the changing dynamic.

"His name is Ernie."
Harry looks over at him, nose scrunched slightly like he's confused. "What?" His voice is hoarse and as deep as ever. Something in Louis' gut feels tingly at the sound.
"My car. His name is Ernie."
"Oh," Harry mutters. A wave of awkward silence washes into the small space as Harry stares down at his lap. You can’t hate the guy that gives you a ride home in the rain, right? Maybe you can, especially considering the level of hate Harry has already reached. So Louis stays quiet, wondering absently how many car rides it would take to get a friendly hug. He estimates around twelve, at least.
OR the one where Louis gets in trouble with Zayn and they’re forced to join the volunteer club. Louis is immediately infatuated the cute guy signing his hour sheets, but Harry has zero patience for annoying jocks. Until that changes.

It feels like a slap across the face, but Louis does his best not to stiffen, blinking once and then frowning. “What?”
“Those people are always so miserable, you know?” Harry says, hopping down off his stool and straightening his sweater. “There’s so much pressure on them, and they have to work so hard to keep up appearances, I can’t even imagine how difficult that is. I can’t even stand to listen to pop music today, let alone watch TV or read the magazines. It makes me so sad, thinking that those people, you know, the ones who actually went into it with heart, they only ever just wanted to make music and instead they got turned into things on leashes being paraded around to make money for other people,” he says. “Anyway, you can have the stool.”
Or, Louis's famous, Harry has no idea who he is, and they get snowed in together at a ski lodge in Vermont.
