“What is it?” she asks breathlessly, though the answer seems evident in the hand creeping up her thigh, toying with the material of her sheer tights, threatening to tear with the slightest scratch.
Arlecchino drops the leather harness atop the other’s lap. “You see, I’ve been quite curious for some time what it’d be like to, say, ‘swap’ roles. As you know, in your field, actors often practice each other’s scripts, even if already cast, to satiate the director’s desire to know ‘what if?’ regarding different interpretations of a role depending on who is playing it.”
“Which means?”
“Simply that I wish for you to take the lead tonight, Furina,” Arlecchino says, utterly nonchalant, as though she had mentioned the colour of the sky after dusk, something so utterly benign.
Or, Furina’s latest performance is not one she expects, much less with the Knave in tow. Still, as any role she’s taken, no script is out of her expertise, even if this one pushes her far out of her boundaries.

Nasir continues with a sigh. “It seems that the Acting Grand Sage intends to decline our request for funding.”
“Ah. That’s… unfortunate.” Kaveh speaks slowly, carefully concealing his initial reaction. This isn’t the first he’s heard of this, but he didn’t consider it to be an actual, real possibility. He’s both shocked and utterly unsurprised at the same time. “But what does that have to do with me, specifically?”
“You know the Acting Grand Sage, do you not?”
A simple question with a complicated answer.
Kaveh is tasked with securing the funding for Kshahrewar from the Acting Grand Sage. Things get complicated.
