Summary
Ivan’s never been one for fairytales. Stories of mythic creatures and cosmic consequences veer too closely to the horrifying reality of what he’s seen firsthand on the Fold. He doesn’t need some out of touch parable to teach him about the difference between right and wrong — he’s only ever wanted to serve his country and win the war. Any distraction, any interference, is unacceptable.
That includes Fedyor.

Summary
Bob’s dead.
He twitches once, twice, then goes limp. His head slumps forward. Blood seeps through his clothes, onto the couch. It’s going to leave a stain.
Steven’s thumb twitches on the trigger of the rifle. He needs to find the shovel. Needs to untie the girls, get the sponges out from under the kitchen cupboard. There’s a stray hair on Bob’s shirt-collar, and all he wants to do is brush it away.
Steven doesn’t do any of that.
He swallows back the bile in his throat. Puts the rifle down, grabs a glass. Pours himself a drink from Anna's cabinet. It burns going down, and it feels like the first good choice he’s made in ages.

Summary
“Give me your eye,” Aemond says.
The dagger lies between them, a little thing.
Lucerys looks at it, considers the weight of it. Thinks about the heft of it in his hands, the tension of his fingers along the shaft. He is reminded violently of the last time he held a dagger like that, and the damage that he had wrought. He thinks of regrets, and retribution, and of apologies that had long gone unspoken.
He thinks of Aemond, and a day gone horribly, horribly wrong.
Lucerys thinks, and he thinks, and when he feels the air grow stale with impatience, he takes three quick strides forward and Lucerys—.
Lucerys takes his own eye out.

Summary
He’s tall and dark and handsome, and when he smiles, she can just make out the edges of his bottom canines, sharp. Black hair curls around the tips of his ears, ghosts along the curve of his jaw, and Mildred imagines running her hands through it, holding his head tight as he nips at her with those teeth, feral and unforgiving, and so, so, damnably good.
Her fingers twitch, dragging against the rough cover of the hymnal.
God, she wants to touch it. She wants to touch him.

Summary
Let’s play a game — a secret for a secret.
When Steven was nine, he snuck into his father’s room and jacked him off. Saw the spurt of cum drizzle across his fingers, felt the warmth of his seed dripping over his small hand. His fingers could barely wrap around his penis, and he’d wondered how it would ever fit inside anything.
When Martin was nine, he let Steven take him out to lunch for the first time. Felt the rough slide of Steven’s palm across his thigh under the table, the stench of alcohol on his breath as he leaned in close. Martin wondered if his father had smelt it too, before he went under, beneath all the antiseptic and disinfectant.
